A Spectacular Indianapolis Wedding, Inspired By A Board Game!

Indianapolis couple before their amazing wedding

Laura and Leo’s incredible Indianapolis wedding is one for the books! As you may notice if you follow our blog, theirs is the second very colorful wedding in a row! No more white weddings!

This couple was not afraid of color or pattern, something we wish more couples would embrace.

You see, Laura and Leo lived in New York City during the summer of 2020, right in the middle of Covid. And, staying inside, they played a lot of board games.

One of these board games was Wingspan. It’s a bird-themed board game with incredibly detailed cards using Audubon Society Artwork on each card describing the birds.

And THAT became the inspiration for the wedding design! Together with our custom stationer, our Mon Amie Events team took birds from New York, Laura’s home state of Indiana, and Leo’s home state of Alabama and paired them with incredible summer wildflowers for the wedding design.

Ready To Fly

The ladies began their day with candid photos, photos of the incredible details, breakfast, and hair and makeup.

Once dressed, it was time for a quick first look with Laura and her father before heading off to see her groom-to-be for their first look.

Laura and Leo’s First Look

Dressed and looking very handsome, Leo waited anxiously at the bottom of the grand staircase. Laura quietly ascended the stairs, sneaking up behind Leo.

Their first look is adorable. You can see how much in love they are.

After a few photos together and with their wedding party, it was off to the church for their beautiful wedding ceremony.

With This Ring

With everyone in place in the church’s magnificent sanctuary, it was time for Laura’s grand entrance to Bach’s Air from Suite No. 3, escorted by her father.

Although Leo had seen his bride earlier in the morning, you can see the excitement on his face.

Imagine Laura and Leo’s surprise as they exited the church to find that their transportation to the reception was an Indy 500 Pace Car! SURPRISE!

A Unique and Wonderful Wedding

Laura and Leo’s incredible wedding reception took place in both the Conrad and The Indianapolis Artsgarden. The reception was a luxurious stand-up cocktail party that lasted until midnight.

The spaces were filled with lush greenery, colorful florals, and lounge furniture.  Food stations offering Street Tacos, Sliders and Fries, and Asian food were intermingled with fashion sketch artists, guitarists, and a DJ.

A color palette of gold, sage, honey, and pine created warm, inviting spaces to dine, dance and have conversations. Audubon books and Wingspan games, surprises for Laura and Leo, added fun, unique elements to the lounge seating.

Let Them Eat Cake

A unique wedding reception requires a fantastic wedding cake or two.

The four-tiered white beaded wedding cake took its inspiration from Laura’s wedding gown. The second cake was an incredibly detailed replica of their Wingspan game played by the newlywed’s cats, Elvis and Priscilla Purrresley!

With incredible food, seating, games, and interactive entertainment interspersed throughout the venues, a “field guide” was ideal for meandering guests.

A Sneak Peek

As our newlyweds arrived for a sneak peek, they were welcomed with glasses of Champagne before getting a private tour of the incredible decor and a quick spin around the dance floor.

A Night To Party

Arriving guests were greeted with Champagne and passed Hors d ‘Oeuvres as they gathered in the Artgarden.

The evening started with a welcome by Leo, followed by the couple’s first dance to “For One In My Life” and parent dances before opening the food stations.

Guests dined, danced, and partied, stopping briefly for the couple’s cake cutting, some late-night snacks, and delicious desserts. However, the party rolled on until midnight, closing with “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen.
