MEGAN + NIHANTH’S WEDDING STORY:

Scottish Rite & Central Library, Indianapolis, IN

The blending of two families and two stories into one is the best part of any wedding, but when it involves two religions it’s even more special. For Megan and Nihanth, we were honored to help tell the story of a Hindu ceremony and Christian ceremony for their guests. This incredible love story full of the colors, flavors and history of their cultures took place in two ceremonies, three celebrations and a weekend full of events.

Nihanth’s baraat actually began outside his condo as he rode horseback along the streets of Indianapolis from his condo to Scottish Rite to the ceremony. There his bride met him for the first ceremony of the day where their customary rituals took place in front of hundreds of friends and family before a luncheon celebration. Following this event, the Christian ceremony was held in another ballroom of the Cathedral. A program booklet allowed guests to read through the entire day’s festivities to ensure regardless of which side of the family they were from, they knew what was happening, and the meaning and history behind the tradition.

The evening ended with an elaborate celebration at the Central Library. The atrium was filled with large trees made from thousands of white blooms surrounding and a marble dance floor. The guests all sat at coordinating custom marble tables. Megan and Nihanth even ensured their first dance was a fusion of their cultures with an incredible choreographed dance. The food was a beautiful mix of flavors all weekend – everything from Indian street food served from carts, to formal plated dinners, to the first dessert Megan ever made Nihanth (on their 2nd date) was served. By creating such a welcoming atmosphere for guests, the couple allowed everyone to learn about both cultures as they began their new life together.
