Lucy and Blake’s Kohler Resort – Whistling Straits Destination Wedding
Writing about Lucy and Blake’s Wisconsin Destination at the Kohler Resort and Whistling Straits makes our hearts skip a beat, and we’re smiling ear to ear.
Whistling Straits and the Kohler Resort
Whistling Straits is home to the Ryder and American Cups. The Kohler Resort is a 5 Diamond Resort that lives up to everything you’d expect.
The wedding weekend included a private family dinner and a welcome reception before the wedding day festivities.
Guests arrived to find a magnificent property and welcome bags with yummy treats. A pheasant hunt allowed Blake, the Montana family, and friends some outdoor time. The resort also offered guests an incredible spa, golf, and fishing in their free time.
{How cute are the Scottish Blackface Sheep cookies? The sheep graze, wearing bells to alert golfers to their arrival as they trim the grass along the course. They are adorable, and the images appear multiple times throughout the wedding decor.}
Family!
The second thing that makes this wedding weekend so unique is that this is our team’s second wedding with Lucy’s family. We previously worked together to create her sister’s wedding, and we’ve all become very close friends!

The Start Of A Beautiful Day
Lucy and the ladies started their day with breakfast and hair and makeup services while the wedding team documented some of the beautiful wedding details. It was time to dress and take some beautiful portraits.
Meanwhile, across the resort, Blake and the guys had returned from the pheasant hunt, freshened up, and dressed.
First, See Your Dad!
Dressed and ready, Lucy stopped for a first look with her dad. They spent some time together, and then it was time for Blake to see his beautiful bride-to-be.
Speechless
This magnificent property offers gorgeous details and beautiful backdrops everywhere you turn. It could not have been more perfect for Lucy and Blake to have their first look and stroll across the grounds for some spectacular wedding portraits.
Beyond
The Straits Chapel is a recent addition to the Whistling Straits property and overlooks Lake Michigan. It starkly contrasts the Irish Barn in the 18th Green and was the perfect setting for this intimate wedding ceremony.
Oversized floral arrangements in goldtone urns flanked the chapel’s entrance. Inside, a deconstructed wedding arch accented the altar and lake views.
With everyone in their places, it was time for Lucy, escorted by her parents, to make her entrance to “Beyond” by Leon Bridges. There were no dry eyes here as she made her way down the aisle to Blake.
The two exchanged rings and wedding vows in a ceremony that included several touching readings before the two sealed their vows with a kiss and exited to the “International Players Anthem.”
Cocktails and Cake Cutting
The couple and their guests were transported from the chapel back to Whistling Straits, where they enjoyed Cocktail Hour and delicious light bites on the lawn.
The newlyweds snuck some time away from family and friends for a quick cake-cutting and some adorable photos.
But for them, they couldn’t wait to see the wedding reception set inside the adjacent pole tent. We escorted the newlyweds to the tent and were over the moon with their expressions. The look on Lucy’s mom’s face, who has become a dear friend, was priceless.
Plaid, Flowers, and Blackface Sheep
The white peaked tent with a hardwood floor was draped with soft market lights. The center held a head table under a canopy of lush flowers, greenery, and the most mesmerizing mosaic glass lanterns.
Rustic wooden tables sat in contrast to round tables with lush solid colored linens and warm wooden bentwood chairs tied the decor together. Tabletops were filled with goldtone compotes filled with colorful flowers and tall taper candles in glass globes. Placesetting held charger plates with gold tones flatware and beautiful plaid napkins with custom paperie explaining the evening’s festivities and the history of the Blackface Sheep grazing on the ridge below.
But First, We Feast!
With guests taking their seats, the newlyweds made their entrance and welcomed their family and friends. The couple was seated front and center for a few toasts and a blessing before guests dined on an expansive buffet dinner with wine service.
Following dinner, everyone went inside the Irish Barn for a night of dancing to an outstanding band. The evening began with the couple’s first dance to “Nothing IS Bad” by Grady Spencer.
This was followed by a beautiful dance between Blake and his mother.
Last but certainly not least, Lucy’s father, complete with his pink carnation, shared some words for the newlyweds before she and Lucy took to the dancefloor for their father-daughter dance to “American Pie.
With all the guests joining in, the band surprised everyone with “one more time!” before officially opening the dancefloor for the evening. The night ended with another round of American Pie, with guests all dancing in cowboy hats, a nod to Montana.
Congratulations, Lucy and Blake. We’re thrilled to have been part of a destination wedding weekend as remarkable as the two of you and your families.
